Current Work
Racial Unity
LHF is currently leading a Be The Bridge (BTB) Racial Unity Bible Study with a diverse group of believers representing a number of local churches. The BTB group is being co-led with Reggie Thomas, Ph.D. Dr. Thomas is a an African American Pastor who earned his Ph.D. in Divinity and has pastored for over 25 years. The goal of the study is to teach Christians about racial unity through the BTB curriculum. LHF desires to begin a serious dialogue about racial unity and racial justice in the Church. LHF believes that through education and dialogue the Church can become a true reflection of Jesus’ love by making the church welcoming to all persons regardless of all races. LHF wants to help the Church to become a more unified and diverse environment for people of all races and ethnicities.
Helping the Marginalized & Oppressed
LHF is currently working to help the Ethiopian born Hehn children who are now adults. The Hehn adults who were adopted into a family near Seattle, Washington have an abusive adoption experience. At this time there are many Ethiopian born Hehn family members who need help with housing, food, clothing, counseling, job training, jobs, and legal needs. LHF is working to help these victims to get back on their feet and experience the life that they and their biological parents dreamed for them to have in America. Unfortunately, the dream has turned into a nightmare for these people and many others like them. A portion of the traumatic experience for some of the Ethiopian born Hehn children can be seen in the documentary entitled “Unwanted In America” narrated by Dan Rather and produced by Yasmeen Qureshi, Lisa Desai and Sarah Gross on AXS TV.

These children were subjected to an injurious adoption situation and continue to suffer the repercussions of being abandoned by the system. It is the goal of LHF to let the Ethiopian Hehn children, who are now adults, know that there is a living hope and a future in America. LHF wants the Hehn Ethiopian family members to know and understand that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. This message of hope and love will be spread through the work of LHF and its partners.
Local Outreach
We are excited to have purchased a parcel of property that contains three (3) buildings located in the historic downtown district of Pomona, CA. We are currently meeting with an architect, a design professional, and contractors as we prepare to enter into the construction phase. The plan is to operate a food market to help address the food desert issues in Pomona. We plan to partner with local farmers to provide nutritional food and organic fruits and vegetables. Within the market we will operate a gelato, coffee, and sandwich shop. We are planning to build a community center aimed to provide a safe place for school aged children to come and hang out after school. Lastly, the third building will be used for counseling and tutoring services in addition to containing a kitchen that will have cooking classes for local residents. We will provide more details as the plans progress. We are grateful and thankful to operate out of Pomona in the near future.
